Developmental Delay Awarenss Month, March 2024

“A World of Opportunities”

The theme for the 2024 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is “A World of Opportunities.” Developmental disabilities can encompass a wide range of conditions that usually result in delays or impairments in learning language development and motor skills. Behavior areas can also be affected, leading to challenges in self-control and interaction with others. The goal is to build a community that’s committed to creating a world where everyone can do well and succeed. Join us in making a world where all kinds of people have the chance to thrive and achieve 100% Access, Equity and Inclusion.

Month of the Military Child 2024

During the month of April, we invite you to join us as we celebrate our Military Children! The children of service members learn to be independent and flexible as they adapt to frequent moves and deployments. Their ability to navigate the unique challenges of military life makes them inspirational and deserving of recognition for their strength and resilience. Easterseals offers Project Beacon twice a year for Military children. See more about Project Beacon in item two below. If you know of any children, ages 5 to 17, who might be interested in a fantastic weekend, encourage them to register for this FREE camp experience.

autism
April is Autism acceptance month and is meant to help promote inclusion and understanding for those with Autism. Follow the link to a wealth of info provided by the CDC, including the 2023 Community Report on Autism and a number of easy-read reports on Autism.
Project Beacon
ESWCPA celebrates military children with Project Beacon, April 5-7 at Camp Victory in Millville, PA. Project Beacon’s second retreat takes place October 18- 20. Project Beacon is a weekend retreat for children, ages 5-17 of military personnel and veterans.
York gives
The real success of Give Local York will not be how much money we raise but the tremendous impact those dollars will have when nonprofits across York County put them to work! Join the giving on May 2-3. Follow our facebook page as we get closer.
105 Birthday
It all started in 1919 when Edgar Allen founded the National Society for Crippled Children, the first organization of its kind. Here we are today, 105 years later, still serving children and adults with disabilities. Will you please consider a "birthday gift donation?"

A Can't Miss - Club Lily

Any time is a great time to talk about one of our camp programs – Club Lily. Easterseals Western and Central PA’s Club Lily program is a camp opportunity specifically for adults, 18 and up, with any disability/special need. And, when we say 18 and up, we mean it! Our oldest camper in 2018 was 77; proving that you are never too old to enjoy the fun of camp. How can you not have fun when there is wall climbing, zip lining, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, games, sports, pool time, campfires, special evening activities and more.
